Bliss Balls

I absolutely love having a batch of these bliss balls around. They’re a tasty treat for dessert and a great snack to hold you over in between those 5-7 hour stretches. I don’t usually recommend snaking as it can spike blood sugar levels, but on those extra busy days when you need a bite in between travel or traffic jam, these guys do just the trick. Because they’re loaded with protein and fat they won’t spike your blood sugar levels the way that most snack bars do. And by making your own at home it gives you the opportunity to toss in superfoods like goji berries, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and ginger.

This recipe takes just around 20 minutes to make, is loaded with megadoses of nutrition + ingredients are super clean. It’s also a great way to hide greens powders for the little ones who won’t eat their veggies and a wonderful option for when those sugar cravings kick in.

Ingredients:

2 cups raw almonds

3/4 cup raw cacao powder

6 dates, pitted

1/2 cup raisin (cranberries works nicely too)

1 Tbs melted coconut oil

1/4 cup filtered water

2-3 tbs honey

pinch of sea salt

Add-ons: (Optional)

1 cup shredded organic unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, cayenne pepper, ginger, goji berries, hemp hearts, pumpkin seed protein powder, greens powder by Progressive or botanica.

STEP 1 -Grind almonds in a food processor (a magic bullet will do the trick too). Then add c0coa powder, dates, raisins, coconut oil, honey, and sea salt with a dash of cayenne and 2 tsp fresh cut ginger (skin removed). If you don’t like ginger then just skip that part, and careful with the cayenne, it gets hot quickly. If you’re wanting to add other ingredients like a tbs of greens powder or turmeric this is when they would be best added to the mix. Once all ingredients have been blended add water to the mixture and blend a little more.

STEP 2 -Once everything is mixed roll up your sleeves and start rolling some bliss balls. For a nice added touch roll them in some chia seeds for more nutrition and a nice crunch. I usually do half a batch this way and the other half rolled in shredded coconut. Keep in fridge for at least 1 hour before eating.

  1. These look delicious, along with the brownies. My daughter is vegan, she will love them. Do you have a recipe for a healthy protein bar or granola bar of some sort that you have tried and liked?

    1. Hi, Diane! Your daughter will definitely love them both. They’re totally delicious, super simple and fast to make. I have a few recipe for vegan protein bars in the back of my mind but have not tried them out yet. Thank you so much for your comment.
